Ever since i started travelling i made it my goal to at least take one book with me . Which is totally doable. Although i alternate between your cliche romantic novels to business books, travel books are on the top of my list and are perfect for when you visit the Boutique Hotel. I found that every time i put down a travel book, i am left inspired and left with the constant urge to travel again.
This list is perfect whether you’re just looking for some travel inspiration or just want some book recommendations. But if you don’t want to be carrying books around with you, you can easily download the ebook version to take on your trip to our boutique hotel.
The Alchemist | Paulo Coelho
“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
I decided to give this book a go after getting endless recommendations. This has got to be one of my favourite travel books of all time. Paulo Coelho teaches you the importance of listening to your heart and not being afraid to dream.
The story is set in Spain, Andalusia, where a Shepard yearns to travel the world. And he begins his journey of self discovery. This book will leave you wanting to tick of more of your bucket list.
On the Road | Jack Kerouac
“Things are so hard to figure out when you live from day to day in this feverish and silly world.” - Jack Kerouac On the Road: The Original Scroll
No best books for wanderlust would be complete without On the Road. The book is set in American post-World War, bringing you back to the golden age.
Kerouac mixes poetry with jazz and travel taking you through a rollercoaster of emotions. This is a classic novel that continues to inspire wanderlust in countless adventurers.
This book is perfect for those who dream of freedom and need inspiration.
Driving Over Lemons | Chris Stewart
“Driving Over Lemons,” tells the story of Ana and Chris’ adventure that started on their trip to Andalusia. It seems like all the great books are set in the south of Spain. Chris tells this story with humour, passion and realism.
This is a wonderful tale of a life-changing energy and adventurous spirit that I recommend to everyone. It will transport you to the warm and rustic hills of Spain.
“There was no stopping us now. We had running water, a heater, a cooker and a road. We were fast becoming slaves again to all the things we had come to this benighted spot to flee.”- Chris Stewart, Driving Over Lemons: An Optimist in Spain
The Lost Girls | Baggett, Corbett, Pressner
A tale of three friends in their mid twenties who leave their corporate jobs in America to pursue their dreams of travelling the world. Taking them through a journey of ashrams, hostels and everything else that falls in between.
The Lost Girls captures the generational struggle that so many millennial are currently facing as they embark on a journey of a lifetime.
“Floating there I held onto faith. Because you can't know who might cross your path or who will take your breath away. You can't know when there'll be an unexpected detour that'll take you to the place where you were always meant to be.” ― Holly C. Corbett, The Lost Girls:
Potential side effects: Serious Wanderlust
Wild | Cheryl Strayed
“Fear, to a great extent, is born of a story we tell ourselves...”
After being widely recommended by the Oprah book cub it soon became a bestseller. And now also has a motion picture, don’t be tempted to watch the film before reading the book!
Wild tells a story about how travel can spark change, closure and new beginnings. After hitting rock bottom she takes on a hike from the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert to Washington State. This will leave you wanting to take on a hike and follow her journey of self discovery.
