Val Brandet

Val Brandet

Near our Alpine hotel is a gorgeous valley called ‘Val Brandet’, here, you will see some of the best views of Nature in Corteno Golgi.

THE VALLEY

“STUNNING GLACIER-FORMED BASIN”

Val Brandet, just a short drive from Albergo Miramonti, is a stunning glacier-formed valley nested within the Italian Alps. The valley offers breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains (in the winter), flowing rivers and seas of evergreen trees. Historically, Val Brandet was the center of a thriving mining industry as iron-rich minerals such as Pyrite and Siderite were extracted from its surrounding mountains. Several, now abandoned, melting furnaces can still be found along the banks of the river Brandet.

A hike in Val Brandet is the ideal excursion for those who adore the outdoors. During the summer, many people flock here to take picnics, take a hike or depending on whether the season permits it, do some fly fishing and catch some wild trout. Not to mention the abundance of Porcini Mushrooms all around the valley. As for winter, the landscape transforms into a winter wonderland, providing the perfect opportunity for photographers as well as some snowsport enthusiasts.

GETTING THERE

“COBBLESTONED PATH THAT LEADS TOWARDS THE VALLEY”

To get to Val Brandet, you can either walk from our hotel along the Via Valeriana and take a sharp left at Fucine Les, or - to save time - you can drive to the Sant’Antonio parking lot directly. From there, you can find the cobblestoned path that leads towards the valley. The route stretches a for about a Kilometer which may take you about 30-40 minutes to hike through. But eventually, you will reach the meadow where you will find a couple of traditional huts, including the Rifugio Val Brandet, a restaurant that serves delicious Northern Italian cuisine. Keep in mind; if you’re venturing to Val Brandet during Winter, the path may likely be frozen with ice; therefore, you should make sure that you have the ideal equipment for the trek.
