Motivation and Inspiration Day: 4 Tips to Stay Motivated This Year
“Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honour your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen… yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.” – Bradley Whitford
Motivation and Inspiration Day has arrived and here at Albergo Miramonti, we’re thinking about what lies ahead this year. So, today we thought we would look at ways we can all inspire and motivate ourselves in our day-to-day lives and live the best life we possibly can!
WHAT IS MOTIVATION AND INSPIRATION DAY
Although the name is pretty self-explanatory, there is great meaning behind this day – a pretty sombre one at that. Following the tragic 9/11 attack, motivational speaker Kevin McCruden felt Americans needed reminding of all the great things there are to live for. With society feeling broken and saddened at this particular time, individuals certainly found it hard to look at the bright side of life. So, McCrudden created this day on December 18th 2001 – with the aim to help people maximise their potential through creating their own annual goals. It’s now an annual commemoration of the new year and is celebrated across the world, as well as in the US.
SET GOALS WITH MILESTONES
Once that clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve we know that everyone thinks forward to the year they’re about to have and the way they want it to be. Year-long resolutions can make you feel like your climbing a never-ending mountain – one that may lead you to give up. Avoid this by giving yourself smaller steps towards achieving your goal. This way, each time you reach a milestone you’ll get a great sense of achievement – leaving you hungry for more.
DAILY TO-DO LIST
The next tip is simple but effective – if done correctly. Get yourself a daily planner and each day gives yourself 3 aims to achieve. These could be must-do jobs such as household chores or finishing a project at work – or they could be personal, like meeting a friend for a catch-up. Whatever you feel is important to you that day, write it down and get it done. Not only will this help you prioritise important things, but it’ll also feel incredibly satisfying at the end of the day when you can tick off the 3 goals that you set for yourself.
YOGA AND MEDITATION
The Health Benefits of Yoga are life-changing! It’s a practice that brings so much to your mind as well as your body. The mind holds great power and can have a huge impact on your daily life – yoga will help give you take the reigns of the ride that is your mental state. It’ll help you clear your mind of thoughts and reach a point of total relaxation, which will also reach your subconscious. It provides positive motivation, as you’ll notice you’ll become more committed to your daily tasks.
EXPLORE THE WORLD
One great thing about travelling is that you discover things beyond your day-to-day life. Each place you visit will give you a different perspective on life, with the varying cultures and lifestyle you’ll find. You’ll be surprised at the clarity you may find when you’re surrounded by a breath-taking place. It’s one of the many Reasons You Should Visit the Italian Alps.
